Optometric Assistant Job Description
Your job duties and responsibilities are listed below:
Greet patients with smile and a pleasant tone of voice
Complete Patient History Forms and scan into the computer.
Answer the telephone with the correct protocol.
Handle patient appointments.
Answer patient questions.
Handle patient problems with empathy.
Understand all insurance plans including eligibility, deductibles and coverage.
Verify patient eligibility for vision and medical insurances.
Keep reception area clean and neat.
Complete daily doctor claim form.
Call patients to confirm next day appointments.
Patient clinical data collection including: Visual fields screening, Auto-refraction and auto-keratometry, Digital fundus photography, Non-contact tonometry and Lensometry.
Clean and calibrate instruments and order supplies as needed.
Enter clinical data into patient’s computer file.
Keep the Pre-Test Area clean and neat.
You will conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times.
You will be flexible to changes in our practice’s procedures and your job responsibilities.
You will adhere to our practice’s confidentiality policies regarding patient information.
Must have a diploma or GED.
Must have computer knowledge.
Must be able to pass a drug test.
Must be willing to work Saturdays.
Must have reliable transportation.
Must have a positive attitude, be ambitious and be a fast learner.
